Mission Statement

Microsoft
“Our vision is to create innovative technology that is accessible to everyone and that adapts to each person’s needs. Accessible technology eliminates barriers for people with disabilities and it enables individuals to take full advantage of their capabilities.” —Bill Gates, Chairman, Microsoft Corporation

Mission Statement
The Microsoft mission regarding global diversity and inclusion is to create an environment that helps Microsoft capitalize on the diversity of its people and the inclusion of ideas and solutions to meet the needs of its increasingly global and diverse customer base. A Vision and Strategy for the Future

Global Diversity and Inclusion are integral to the vision, strategy, and business success of Microsoft. Microsoft officially formed the Office of Diversity & Inclusion in recognition of the fact that leadership in the global marketplace requires a corporate culture and an inclusive business environment where the best and brightest diverse minds—employees with varied perspectives, skills, and experiences—work together to meet consumer demands. During the past few years, we have accomplished the following: * Developed a cohesive Global Diversity & Inclusion strategy linked to the company’s business and vision * Strengthened global perspective and integration of this diversity strategy across the company * Enhanced leadership engagement with the chief executive officer (CEO) and executive diversity sponsors * Improved overall quality and accuracy of diversity data in the U.S. and globally * Increased portfolio of diversity and inclusion training tools and courses

Our results demonstrate that the collaboration of different cultures, ideas, and perspectives is an organizational asset and yields greater creativity and innovation. Global diversity and inclusion are business critical to the current and long-term success of Microsoft. Microsoft Accessibility

Accessibility makes it easier for everyone to see, hear, and use a computer, and to personalize their computers to meet their own needs and preferences. For many people with impairments, accessibility is what makes computer use possible. Mission

At Microsoft, our mission and values are to help people and businesses throughout the world to realize their full potential. We consider our mission statement a promise to our customers. We deliver on that promise by striving to create technology that is accessible to everyone—of all ages and abilities. Microsoft leads the industry in accessibility innovation and in building products that are safer and easier to use.

Apple
As a leader in innovation, the mission statement of the Apple company should be equally innovative, inspiring and somewhat lofty, but officially and unofficially Apple’s mission is barely a mission at all. (See the Apple, Inc. mission statement below.) The Mission Statement, Global Vision, and Values of Apple, Inc.

It was widely reported that a famous quote from Steve Jobs in the 1980’s was the Apple company mission statement: “Man is the creator of change in this world. As such he should be above systems and structures, and not subordinate to them.”

The “official” mission statement on the Apple corporation website, however, is not really a mission statement at all, but rather a list of products and past accomplishments. As stated, Apple’s “mission” is…

“Apple designs Macs, the best personal computers in the world, along with OS X, iLife, iWork and professional software. Apple leads the digital music revolution with its iPods and iTunes online store. Apple has reinvented the mobile phone with its revolutionary iPhone and App Store, and has recently introduced iPad 2 which is defining the future of mobile media and computing devices.”

Apple ends its press releases with a statement that resembles what a traditional mission statement is expected to be…

“Apple is committed to bringing the best personal computing experience to students, educators, creative professionals and consumers around the world through its innovative hardware, software and Internet offerings.”

The mission statement of WRSX’s Group is to help their clients developing their strength and brand images via creative advertisement and marketing activities. Also, they focus on building their business strategy to keep the cost in line with industry averages as well as growth in market share, profitability and returns for shareholders. Furthermore, in order to make their mission accomplishable, WRSX had expanded their offices to different cities are Paris, New York, London and Singapore.

Therefore, keep this mission statement will be a smart choice for them in order to keep the organization maintain and increase the market share. Since the WRSX Group attracts the global clients, they can expand their range of products and services to potential locations and new industry sectors. The strategy of WRSX is putting a heavy demand on their management abilities. Therefore, they should try matrix structure because it costs less but still using the human resources effectively, where leaders need to know how to attract, retain and develop the top performers, in order to meet production and business situation more volatile. Besides, matrix structure can help leaders control their employees easier with day-to-day report to product manager, where it contains their flow of skills and information of running or managing product development processes. The matrix structure works horizontally where each manager has different functional disciplines, yet still need to report to the head of department, who authority vertically downwards. Mission Statement

The purpose of a mission statement is to represent the overall goal of the organization, to guide the pathways to which they will practice, and provide an overall framework for continued practice. While most mission statements will differ, the overall goal is for continued success and best outcomes for that organization.

Nursing Philosophies of an organization states thoughts on what is believed to be truthful about the specific profession and usually a theorist who best represents the goal and mission that the organization desires to achieve and maintain while practicing optimal patient outcomes.

Throughout my career, I have worked for a number of different hospitals and long term care facilities. Currently, I am employed per-diem at a local teaching hospital in New York who serves a large population in the South Bronx. They have yet to obtain Magnet Status however, the goal to obtain magnetism is being attempted. According to Bronx Lebanon Hospital ‘s philosophy, their nurses “reach their goals through professional collaboration and framework with peers and in partnership with patients and the community”.

The nursing philosophy of the organization is evident in daily practice. “Nurses are involved in the art of nursing and are totally committed to producing the best care possible with the highest quality outcomes while showing and maintaining compassionate, evidenced based care, communication, and collaborative care which are all important”. Patient centered care by management and staff is always at the core. Best practices are followed to maintain high levels of patient satisfaction. Success is seen as most patients are frequent flyers and are known well to the physician’s who care for them as they continually return to have their health needs addressed.

The mission statement of Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center is to “deliver the highest quality service to the Bronx community through building a healthcare network that is continuously striving foe excellence by truly opening it’s arms to heal, to teach, and to care”. The organization maintains that it’s chief role is to maintain quality care in the community and will continue to respond positively to the changes of the health care system and produce best patient outcomes. Additionally, the organization continues to build and strengthen relationships and it reinforces the hospital’s role in the community as doctor to the community as it strives to hold a position as the healthcare leader and maintain positive change.

Adelphi University, which is located in Long Island, has many attendees who have graduated with Baccalaureate Degrees and are currently employed at Bronx Lebanon. The mission statement of Adelphi University is “to advance the art and science of nursing, and to promote scholarship in nursing. Through nursing research, education, and practice, students and faculty seek to enhance the quality of life for all people”. Nurses will make contributions to the health care system.

The nursing philosophy of the university is based on the ideology that the goal is to “ address human needs across the lifespan, to promote, protect, maintain, and restore health and human dignity. Nurses act as compassionate providers of care, managers, leaders, educators, researchers, consultants, advocates, and collaborators”. In comparison of both organizations, it is evident that both desires best outcomes.

Both emphasize that nurses practice with compassion and show humanistic behaviors for achievement of best care outcomes and through educational programs, as their careers progress. Philosophically, both organizations addresses nursing as an art and utilizes evidenced based practices to facilitate nurses to continue to make contributions to the health care system that will continue to adapt to a changing health care environment and produce positive outcomes. There was no specific theorist associated with either organization.

In contrast, both organizations differ in that Bronx Lebanon as a practicing organization maintained more patient specific and centered goals of patient satisfaction and a more collaborative approach with doctors and patients in the community. Their philosophical statements also differ in that Bronx Lebanon focuses more on the practicing clinician.

Mission and philosophical statements of an organization must represent exactly what the organization stands for and what the goal, which are intended to be obtained. While each mission and philosophical statements may differ, the overall goal of the statement is to represent the organizational goal.
