Keeping Pets

Nowadays keeping pets is gaining increasing popularity. The relationship between human and animals are always changing. To begin with, pets can keep a good company to people so as to bring pleasure and drive away loneliness. After a long period of staying together, people view their lovely pets as an old friend and even as family members. When people have something unhappy and do not want to tell anyone else, we can always talk with our pets, though they don’t understand at all. It is true that my friend , Jenny, who grew up with an absentee father and a peripatetic mother. I think Jenny is very unfortunate. However, she is very optimistic about her life. Because when she was young, her mom worried about nobody can take care of her, so she bought a dog for her. Jenny named its Beef and it is really a lovely dog. It often does some antics to make her laugh and warms her up. At the present, Jenny does not complain about her family or indulge herself like some other kids from a single parent family. She said that Beef always stays with her and relieves this loneliness to some extent. From Jenny/s experience , I feel the need to have another living being to share our daily lives.

On the other hand, in contemporary society, many intelligent animals have been trained to be a doorkeepers since long time ago. It is reported that pets can often avoid thieves stealing something valuable from people’s house .Because busy work make people enable to dismiss the suggestion as trivial ,but thanks to smart pets today we can live in a safe and comfortable environment. On the contrary, there are also many stray animals in the society. Sometimes their owners abolish them or they just lose the way. It is actually a serious problem, but people often ignore this issue. I think that we should find a shelter to help them even though we cannot adopt all of the pets . If we meet those stray animals, we have the responsibility to protect them in order that the relationship between animals and people will get better and better. Otherwise, animals are likely to become aggressive.

Keeping Pets

Many people spend a huge amount of money on raising pets. In a world where millions are suffering from starvation or are under-nourished, I honestly think that such spending is unnecessary. There are good reasons for keeping pets. First, pets combat loneliness. Cats and dogs are a good companion for people living alone. Furthermore, keeping a pet can also be good for our health. There is evidence that raising or even just stroking pets can reduce blood pressure and stress, and many nursing homes have animals for just this reason.

Dogs also need exercise, so the owners benefit from walking too. In addition, pets are fun and great teachers! By playing, they remind us that life is not just about work and minding them teaches children responsibility. However, some people take pet ownership to extremes. For some owners, pets are an accessory or a display of affluence. Shows and exhibitions are held showing animals in ridiculous outfits or hairstyles, and vast amounts spent maintaining pedigrees and creating unusual breeds.

Secondly, the cost of some veterinary treatment can exceed the cost of life-saving operations for humans. This is clearly a misplaced priority. Finally, even a few tins of dogfood or catfood weekly runs into tens of billions of dollars annually worldwide. Should a cat be better fed than a human? To sum up, it’s clear that pet owners squander a lot on their animals. We need to consider what we are spending our money on and whether this money could be spent on improving the life of others around the world.

Keeping Pets

Nowadays, more and more people would like to keep a dog or cat or some other kinds of pets. While this does involve some expense in terms of good and medical treatment, there are still many advantages to keeping a pet. First of all, pets are good companions. This is especially important for people who live alone and for older people who seldom go out. Some pets can help protect the house from thieves while some pets, like dogs and cats are so lively and energetic by nature that they can give happy hours to children and adults.

Secondly, taking care of an animal also help children develop responsible attitudes and learn about nature. Some people claims pets are dirty. I don’t think this is altogether true. Responsible pet owners keep their pets clean and healthy so they will not smell bad. People also say that certain pets, like large dogs, can be dangerous. There have been cases of dogs attacking and seriously injuring little children. However, these cases are uncommon and are the result of bad owners.

These people either don’t train their dogs properly or actually encourage them to be aggressive. So, the problems of pets being unclean or dangerous are in fact the problems of the owners, not the pets themselves. What’s more, it is said that raising a pet cost people so much. In my opinion, pets are good cleaners for the leftovers of family meals, so people can save money for sure. To sum up, there are more advantages than disadvantages to keeping a pet, especially for lonely people and children. In most cases, therefore, the cost is justified.
